Meet the WELS Civilian Chaplain in Europe

Pastor Joshua Martin was commissioned as the WELS chaplain to the Military in Europe at a special service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Muskego, on October 22, 2007. He and his family arrived at their new home at Spiesheim, Germany, later that week.

The weekend after they arrived, the Martin family was able to meet many of those they will later serve when they attended a Reformation retreat at Worms, Germany. Since then, the Martins have begun the process of familiarizing themselves with their new home, country and European ministry.  Chaplain Martin and his wife report that the people in their scattered congregation continue to warmly welcome them.  Their three young children are also adapting well to their new home, school and country.
