Family Center
Times of transition and change are often stressful and heart-rending! Surely, that's the case for men and women entering the military or deploying to distant lands. It's also true for the loved ones they leave behind.
Ignorance of what lies ahead is often at the heart of anxiety and fear. That's why the WELS Military Services Committee has provided a Q&A Web page that you will find in this section. Here you will find answers to common questions asked by new recruits and their loved ones. By providing this information we hope to replace ignorance with knowledge and tension with quiet confidence. As time passes and people submit more questions, we will add to the material that appears here.
This Q&A Web page will NOT answer your every question, however! As in every life situation, first turn to your Lord and Savior, Jesus. Through his Means of Grace, the Gospel in Word and Sacrament, the Lord rids sinners of their guilt, supports believers in every trial and tribulation, showers them with his blessings, and holds out for them the certain hope of heavenly bliss. Though you will find a great deal of useful information about military life here, we strongly encourage you to turn to your pastor and fellow Christians for spiritual support.
If you do not find an answer to your question, feel free to contact us: csm@sab.wels.net. We'll make every effort to get you an answer in a timely manner.
Also in this section you will find a family bulletin board and a calendar of events. An explanation of this area awaits you when you visit it.
The last item of the Family Center section is called "Farewell and Godspeed." This rite may be used in a worship service for a proper farewell to a family member who is about to deploy. Please be sure to contact your Pastor if you would like to do something like this at your church.
