New WELS Military Referral System Online
On May 1, 2009 WELS Ministry to the Military brought their new Military Referral System on line. According to Mark Vance, Director of Programs and Communication for the WELS Military Services Committee; “The new system is more automated and user friendly. The military member can now access his/her referral information and update it as changes occur without contacting our office. Current and up-to- date contact information is most critical for us to minister to our military. Without current contact information the military will not allow us access to our deployed troops in war zones. It also severely restricts our ministry by mail program because much of what is sent is undeliverable and unfortunately, returned to us.”
The new system also has an improved report creation section which will allow WELS Military Services to better distribute information to their Military Contact Pastors and other areas of ministry more effectively.
When filling out the referral form, it is important to remember there are mandatory areas which must be filled out in order for the form to be submitted. The most critical of these is the e-mail address. Please make every attempt to supply this information. It is the easiest and fastest way to communicate with our troops no matter where they are. If no e-mail address is available, ministry can still be provided to the member but, it will need to be done outside of the system. To refer yourself as a member of the military or to refer a military friend or family member to us, go to www.welsmilitary.net Click on “Referral Form “ in the left hand margin of the home page and follow the prompts. The form may also be accessed from outside our website by typing in “military.wels.net/referralform.” The submitted form will be reviewed. An e-mail will be sent, inviting you to set up a password giving you access to your information so you may update it when necessary. Your information will be entered into the database and you will begin to receive “ministry by mail” mailings and information about online services such as weekly podcasted devotions, downloadable worship services, archived devotions, pictures, and other military related resources.
